My favorite Italian dessert is definitely a sfogliatella... I can't wait to share these (maybe I won't SHARE) with the Study Abroad Students...

What do Italian Children Eat for Lunch?
Study Abroad Students,
What do YOU mangia? (eat)
Your research will be focusing on a topic of choice regarding Italian schools or children. This might be something we can all observe through our school visits: School Lunches.
I think you will be amazed...
Here's some info to get you thinking:

How to Pack your Bag
Pack like a Pro!
Remember the fire drill: Stop, Drop, and Roll? The same goes for packing to fit the most in your suitcase and get the least amount of wrinkles (not on your face, but in your clothing!
Make sure to view these videos and read the information.
My simple tips...
1. Take LESS than you plan...
2. Mix and match - tops and bottoms are better than dresses. If you get a top stained, you can mix in a different top...
3. Lightweight layers... A short sleeve or sleeveless top becomes warmer with a sweater over it... on a hot day that starts off cool, the sweater can be removed. If tit starts to rain, you'll appreciate the extra layer.
4. Stop (think about the necessity of the item), Drop it on your bed, roll it tightly and place in your suitcase.

Garlic is definitely the staple of Italian food....
But peeling fresh cloves can lead to frustration by the skins sticking to your fingers. Garlic burns under your fingernails, and you can end up smelling like an Italian dinner!
I have seen this done on several different videos, and have not been able to get it to work yet, but... here's another one I found.
Will definitely keep practicing, as you can see the benefits!

Have fun...
...and Now cooling with it:
Make a nice plate of Aglio e Olio (Garlic and Oil)

Memories of Venice
As I prepare the final stages of planning for the Study Abroad trip, I recall wonderful memories of Venice...
Here is the room of our honeymoon in 2003, on the Grand Canal... SO amazing...
I will definitely take students here... but I doubt we could afford an espresso these days...

Here is the room of our honeymoon in 2003, on the Grand Canal... SO amazing...
We had a double balcony and sat an watched and listened to the sounds of the city.
When I was 16, my sister and I shared a room on the Grand Canal at the Danieli...
on the night of the full moon.
This is where I had breakfast for 3 days...http://www.danielihotelvenice.com/en/gallery

Saying Excuse me In Italian
Pardon me... Forgive me... Necessary phrases....
"Excuse me, I think this shopping bag belongs to you." Pardon me, can you direct me to St. Mark's Square?" "Forgive me, I didn't mean to be late for the bus." I'm sorry, but why do you have three heads in one?"
"Mi Dispiace -(mee diss-pee-aaah-chay). This phrase will take on a kind of dearness coming from you, as an American trying to be pleasant. USE it frequently and the locals might take pity on you. It works for me....
Visit often to learn key phrases that will come in handy during our trip.
Grazie... Fa Bene.
