I am an Associate Professor of literacy education, children's literature, reading methods, social studies methods, and early childhood education in the Department of Early Childhood & Special Education at Valdosta State University at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I am also PROGRAM DIRECTOR for the NEW Italy Study Abroad Program, which will launch Maymester 2015. As an educator, writer, editor, and poet, I LOVE to read, write, travel, take photos, and garden. I am a reviewer for The Dragon Lode, have served on the Children's Literature Assembly (special interest group of NCTE), and the IRA Children's and Young Adult Book Award Committee. I also serve on many committees for Valdosta State.
